NAMI New Orleans : Though I only met with NAMI New Orleans twice in my visit, it was clear that they truly care for those who live in their city. I saw this first hand–by watching them talk and joke with each patient individually, as well as through conversations we had about addressing the current stigma surrounding mental illness. Summary: if we stripped the stigma and talked more openly about our struggles, whether through illness or through trauma or even our day-to-day struggles, life would be just a little bit easier.
